That brings back a memory of a good friend who noticed an H-Bomb album of mine and remarked she saw him at a bar while she was attending Miami U in Oxford, OH. I was surprised she liked him until she said she didn't...no accounting for taste...

Bedbugs are some nasty shit. Remember like 15 years ago when it seemed like they were going to be the next plague? I had 'em, in Brooklyn. Don't know why they just disappeared as an issue after, like 6 months.

He was pretty ubiquitous back then, easy for some to take for granted, I guess.

It was during the heyday of political blogs--I remember this because all these right-wing douches were all saying "See, now we gotta live with bedbugs because the libs made us get rid of DDT."

Yes! Evan Johns! He was great! I saw him somewhere in VA a long while back. Iota in Rosslyn, maybe? Man he could play.

Where was sugar cane? Didn't he used to play with Mayall?
  7:44pm
Edward:

Jonathan Lethem's excellent profile of James Brown has some great quotes from the members of his band about James's organ playing. They didn't love it.

Sugar Cane Harris was the Don of Don & Dewey.I think he hooked up with Mayall via the Zappa connection (He played on HOT RATS and WEASELS RIPPED MY FLESH).

The last Zappa era I have any use for. I do think it was cool that he always acknowledged his debt to the LA R&B scene occupied by Don & Dewey, Johnny Watson, Ray Agee, etc.

I moved to the DC area right after the Cellar Door and Psychedelly closed. Did experience the original 930, 15 Minute Club, and Tornado Alley!
