I stopped watching Silicon Valley because I really *don't* like the characters. At least many of them.

The show is really well executed, and does a brilliant job of portraying those software-hype jamokes... and I've already met them, and didn't like them the first time, and absolutely don't want to spend more time with them.

I didn't have the same strong negative reaction as you to the Slackers crew because they weren't the particular group I'd been overexposed to and developed an allergic reaction to in real life. ...whereas even though many of the characters are terrible people, I still find Billions compelling and more rewarding than not. The writing's good, the characters develop, and some of my favorite actors are in there doing their thing in good form.
