until there is a 180 degree change in the political economy of russia from the top down, it's the best option for the time being (and hopefully not too much longer). W/ other russian noises being made in Moldova and the Baltics around this time last year, you'd bet they'd have something up their sleeve if Ukraine went their way. (not necessarily kinetic warfare, but achieving their means through other methods).
