A really cute girl asked me to go with her to see Joni Mitchell when she was touring Court and Spark in 1974. At on point Joni asked if anyone had a request. People piped up with the predictable songs. I yelled Smoke on the Water at the top of my lungs. You could hear gasps of horror and people howling with laughter at the same time. Joni said "What did he say?" over the mic. My moment of jack-ass glory was rewarded with compete silence on the drive home.
