Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

TO LIVE AND SHAVE IN L.A. | Live Performance and Interview in the WFMU Studios | Engineered By Gil Shuster | Sonic manipulator Tom Smith plugs into the inner bulb of his psyche and spews more personality into noise rock than most (and "rock" is a definite factor in this equation.) The years-in-the-making 2LP opus "The 18th Century Wigmaker in Williamsburg" is a total masterpiece of cut-up madness, demented drum-and-bass, dub destruction, vocal exorcisms, and more sludge pouring into your ears than you can comprehend. What may be deemed impenetrable at first will surely and inevitably get Tom recognized as this millenium's true Disco Diva. This past March saw a reunited TLASILA going ballistic at the Brooklyn No Fun freakfest; and the follow-up weeklong tour finishes up with a cosmic blowout in WFMU's Studio B. The band today: Tom Smith: Vocal, Mark Morgan: Guitar, backing vocal, Ben Wolcott: Oscillator, Don Fleming: Guitar, backing vocal, Andrew WK: Drums, backing vocal, Rat Bastard: Electronics. More info on TLASILA, their new disc "God and Country Rally!", and many fine other releases at www.smackshire.com. Also check out Tom's "Listed" column for Dusted Magazine: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/246, and a nice TLASILA feature at Perfect Sound Forever: http://www.furious.com/perfect/toliveandshaveinla.html. Thanks to the band, Gerard, Gil. SETLIST: Row Houses / Dignity Overnight / Black Girl / Pictures at an Exhibition / EcoVillage Woman. Plus Interview with the band | 1:34:48 (Pop-up) | ||||||
