	8:56pm Dean: I "like" Phish and Leftover Salmon, etc., in theory, because a show on KPFK back in the day played tons of their stuff, and it was at least a curiosity to me. I suppose I would enjoy hearing them live, especially at the Greek, which is an outdoor venue, like LA's Greek. (I graduated from law school on the stage of the Greek.) But I don't have the fortitude to sit through a late night jam concert. Doug Schulkind plays "I Hate Hate" at least annually.

"Myra Jehlen has kept me as poetically oriented as possible, requiring me to respect poetry as a distinct genre and encouraging me — much to my delight — to incorporate readings of the poems themselves into my analysis." I know of Jehlen, a Berkeley English Ph.D. I'm discouraged that we need prompting "to respect poetry as a distinct genre." I hope Anderson is teaching somewhere, doing research.
