I kinda like Ed Sheeran. One day a handful of years ago I was taking the bus to work. Passing Berkeley's Greek Theatre I noticed a line of folks around 7am, apparently to get choice seats for the concert later that night. When I got to my office I checked the Theatre's calendar. Ed Sheeran was that night's performer. I had no idea who Ed Sheeran was at the time, but my kids did. They still enjoy his work.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only person who religiously scans the headlines, vaguely wondering who some of the names are and why I should care.

I know the lady on the gas pump screens recently had some kind of cancer but I have no idea why she thinks I will improve my life based on tips from a freaking gas pump.

For those of you not in NJ: second button from the top, on the right, will mute most gas pump televisions

↳ Song: "Window Somewhere" by "Skullcrusher"
You wouldn't guess their name would be 'Skullcrusher' by their sound. But as it's said, a Skullcrusher by any other name...

And they're on the good ol' Secretly Canadian label! (ADVERB!)

You caught it, Bob. The playlist is pre-entered, but not sequenced. I hit the wrong entry. At the end of the show, there's usually two dozen tracks unaired. Some carry over to the following week. I program in real time.

When I had to defend my doctoral dissertation in music history I was asked how many trombones led the big parade. I had to sweat a bit, but seemingly out of nowhere the answer came to me and I was granted the degree.

The *big* parade, naturally. I'll give a hint: my daughter took trombone lessons for one year. Had she formed an ensemble with 75 other trombone students, they would have had to pay royalties to Meredith Willson.
