That's where I got started on my loose-leaf tea addiction. Back in the day, Kam Man on Canal St. had decent loose-leaf jasmine green tea for only about $8/lb. circa 2010, which was a rock-bottom price even then. But every time I leveled up to something better, it became impossible to go back down again. Lesson learned: NEVER try a nicer tea, ALWAYS keep drinking lowbrow tea if you can! lol

I'm normally fine w/off-brands of almost *anything* but I was astonished at how bad it can get. There IS a no-name green teabag that really DOES taste like fish! In the Southern Cone (Argentina/Uruguay) yerba maté is the "habitual" refreshment. At the office or in the park (or at home), they keep a thermos of hot water, a bag of dry maté tea, and their rounded cup with a metal straw-spring. Make their little "hit" of caffeine throughout the day, a mellow accompaniment.

Four friends and I played in a Star Wars RPG session (1987 version) at the gaming convention we went to in March. The last 45 mins. of that game had more tension and drama, higher stakes, more crucial action, and less certainty about the "good guys" winning than the last ... twenty? hours of SW movies. A great universe that has been ruined by those who own the IP, as a friend of mine put it.

Yup. Gene & Majel Barrett Roddenberry; the DNA of their son Eugene "Rod"; Doohan, Kelley, Nichols and DNA from her son Kyle - and a bunch of others (like Douglas Trumbull) and some "regular folk."

In "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", someone is murdered. And some character onscreen committed it.

Woooo! Country-folk! From Vanguard!
"Psychedelicized", but more in presentation than inherently. Fits the later '60s music environment perfectly!

Hey Scott, I love Thelma Ritter! One of my favorite Thelma moments is when she keeps time on her arm cast with a spoon while Marilyn Monroe and Eli Wallach dance around the living room in The Misfits.

The original Aramaic word may have been like Classical Syriac ܫܠܝܼܚܵܐ‎ šlīḥā.

"From the root ܫ-ܠ-ܚ‎ (š-l-ḥ), related to sending. Compare Arabic سَلِيح‎ (salīḥ) and Hebrew שָׁלִיחַ‎ (šālîaḥ)."

my SIL who is crazy for Disney (still has a disney room) wasn't hip to Star Wars until it was acquired by Disney. Now it's kosher to take my 5-y/o niece to everything Star Wars...(and both my brothers and sils are hard core GOPers)

don't get me started on the homogeny predetermined entertainment experience....(what passes as Disney)

I think your having escaped childhood religious indoctrination was probably a net win. You didn't have to burn a few years on the absorb-ponder-question-reject cycle the rest of us experienced.

The only plus of having had my young head stuffed full of those ridiculous fairytales is that I recognize references people make to that framework... and I get some of the still-annoyingly-many xtian-bible-related Jeopardy questions.

Mournful, intense Classical pieces, a journey through a tea garden, a '76 Krautrock vortex opened and put cool '77 Grandmas "on the Düsseldorf", and now a mellow come-down with strumming (and more tea...)
