Coincidentally I’ve seen Philip Selway play with his solo project last night. Small venue, intimate, quite nice!

Take this post, for example. It is 4:48 in the morning, and I listen to this song. I think: if the only way to describe my life right now, this moment, was to somehow relate it to the 1977 film 'Kentucky Fried Movie,' I'd have to say that the Finnish version of "Live and Let Die" by Danny was a Samuel J. Bronkowitz production."
In other words, here it is, barely five in the morning, and I'm making Kentucky Fried Movie References. Heaven knows where such a fragment of my mind will take my thoughts. John Landis, who directed. Landis also directed the Michael Jackson Thriller video. Michael Jackson won his seven grammies the same year Herbie Hancock won for "Rockit."
And now I want to hear Herbie Hancock's "Rockit." No. I want you to think of that request, which I can just play on Spotify, and ask yourself: what would I play right now, in the spirit of this show, instead of "Rockit?"
Man...all of this, just because of that Finnish version of "Live and Let Die" My brain is one big powder keg, and each grain of gunpowder is a separate thought.
And this is the point where, if we travel further into the past, Jack Lord from the vintage American show "Hawaii Five O" says, quietly, as his character Steve McGarrett always did: "boom."
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
And oh, yeah, just to make sure I'm complete in "WFMU Lite" mode:
--Live and Let Die stared Christopher Lee.
--Christopher Lee was in Lord of the Rings with Viggo Mortensen
--Viggo Mortenson was in "Carlito's Way," with Al Pacino
--All Pacino was in Heat with Robert De Niro
--Robert De Niro was in Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke
--And Mickey Rourke was in Diner with Kevin Bacon.
There has to be a way to do this in fewer steps. Still, my eternally grateful gratitude for making this morning such a spark for my thoughts.
As Boris Lemontov said in "The Red Shoes," good morning.

All because of that Finnish version of "Live and Let Die," by Danny. Wow. As Bruce Campbell said in "Evil Dead 2:" groovy.

And if you do, and this is the 12th iteration of Dan Morfitt, don't you have to do some clever writing to change the canon of your original story and regenerate for the 13th time, will the roll go to Peter Capaldi?

"A Samuel J Bronkowitz Production" comes from an in joke in John Landis's sketch comedy compilation "The Kentucky Fried Movie," which, among it's sketches, features a mock movie trailer for a film called "That's Armageddon." I just emailed you the Google Drive link to an MP3 download of this for your use. Also, the YouTube address is:
www.youtube.com...
If you should play the MP3 on the air, I advise you to cut the audio from 00:10 to 00:13.
Anyway, "Kentucky Fried Movie" also contains the brilliant satire of Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon," called "A Fistful of Yen."
Fun bit of trivia: the actor who plays the bad guy in this sketch, Bong Soo Hon, did the hapkido for Tom Laughlin in the 1971 classic "Billy Jack."
Gotta grab coffee and get ready to head to Lowell. Cheers to you. The weekend begins, folks.
