Was Trebek known for anything prior to taking over Jeopardy? Or was that his first gig?
  8:05pm

I would sometimes hear "Monitor" on the radio. I never "got it". It didn't seem to be a program so much as a label for "whatever we got at the moment".

Jerry Reed was huge back then. My ex's dad was close friends with him. They went on ski trips together and such. That's how my ex ended up playing on a Jerry Reed soundtrack for W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings. HA!

Shep was totally unfair with this stuff. Josephine the plumber was always depicted as having finished some big job and then tossing in a side comment about the tea stains, and selling the client on Comet. The sponsor never tried to say this was the main focus of people's lives, nobody would've believed that.

I wound up kind of backing Shep into a corner in terms of what I'd heard about him, and he pretty much denied everything. This was at WPRB eating pizza after his annual show. My date was impressed anyway, since she'd only recently seen him on TV, but I was temporarily snowed by him, then realized the next day how full of it he was.
