I just thought it was interesting when I saw the two songs came pre-clickied, and I thought, "I don't remember anyone playing Then Play On in its entirety". And saw it was b/c of joe's and your earlier selections...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:43pm
Funky16Corners:

It's a long time favorite of mine. I'm not partial to much of the band's early blues stuff, but the mix of styles that came in with Then Play On is just amazing. Great album alll the way through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
StringOFperils:

It's been so long since I've heard this material that it seems like it's from my childhood, and from another century, which in fact it is I guess. A haunting feeling.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:48pm
Funky16Corners:

↳ StringOFperils @3:46
Hey String! I agree on the vibe of the songs. There's almost a melancholy thing happening, and the overall high quality is kind of surprising when you realize how little known a lot of it is. I don't remember hearing ANY of this on the radio.
Avatar 3:51pm
northguineahills:

I found Tusk in '99, and then slowly worked my way backwards in FM's discography...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
StringOFperils:

↳ Funky16Corners @3:48
Yes, where I was that was certainly true. Nothing at all of this sort was on the radio at all. It was up to me or a friend to scrounge some small change somehow to buy whatever looked interesting in one of the two record stores in the city. No purchase, no access. I was astonished when I move away to a big city (300, 000 ha ha) and heard Led Zep on the radio. It just didn't correspond to my world-model.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Funky16Corners:

Oddly enough, though it's probably from the "familiarity breeds contempt" file, I don't spend a lot of time with the Buckingham/Nicks era
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
Funky16Corners:

↳ StringOFperils @3:54
Yeah, the availability of progressive FM radio has a lot to do with the kind of things people could hear. My buddy Jeff grew up in Wisconsin and had a seriously far out station to listen to. Back in the 60s there were a couple of pockets, in Florida, Texas and Southern California where AM stations were playing unusual stuff omn a regular basis.

↳ Song: "Sometimes" by "Fleetwood Mac"
It's amazing how early Fleetwood Mac started out as heavy rock and country rock before they become popular with the addition of Buckingham Nicks

Just 3 AM stations where I lived, and lunar-like silence across both radio bands in between them. Even years later. I discovered KAAY Arkansas and WLS Chicago later on my transistor radio at night. There was zero to interfere with it bouncing over Lake Superior
