The interview last week was fascinating. It led me to check out more of the artists who were mentioned. It could have gone for another hour and I would have kept listening. Only thing is I wish there were a way to view the early Beatles photos he snapped, some of them have to be out there somewhere. Also interesting to hear how he wasn't that impressed hearing the Beatles at the Cavern, I hear reports that they were either all out rock and roll like they apparently were in Hamburg, or some shows they played sloppy like they were in a living room hanging out instead of on stage. Nice to hear another eyewitness add to the reporting.

One of my favorite classic studio stories came from Cher: When Spector was recording Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), Leon was one of the piano players. Leon improvised those piano lines at the end of the song, and Spector was so moved by the part Leon created, he pulled out his personal checkbook and wrote Leon a bonus check on the spot for playing it. I have to track down that book too!
