What's with the flurry of Rite of Spring productions in dance lately? Great soundtrack, but it's not enough

Really digging this. I've always wanted to hear someone do a solo guitar adaptation.

The soundtrack to Conan The Barbarian was a total rip off of Rite of Spring

Caught the show ending on the archive, because I wanted to hear the Sacre. Excellent segue from Stravinsky to Yo La Tengo!

Interesting story behind that Curvoisier-Symthe record (I don't expect that anyone will read this) from the Bandcamp page: "However, she was shortly informed that the Stravinsky family would allow no independent arrangements of his work. If a piano version of The Rite was to be performed it must be the master’s original version for piano duet and nothing else." So, I guess what we heard was Stravinsky's arrangement, and then the Spectre song is Curvoisier's own composition linked to Le Sacre.

This puzzles me, because there are multiple jazz-related takeoffs from Le Sacre that take many liberties, from the Bad Plus (original band) to a Finnish Big Band I can't put a name to immediately. So maybe Curvoisier's problem was that she asked permission (or some producer did).

Aha, that is really interesting, LG. I suspect it's your latter guess, and that asking permission led to trouble. (There's also this one: erichofbauerquintet.bandcamp.com...). Anyway, thanks for coming back!
