Klezmer for Change with guest Elizabeth Schwartz

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

Elizabeth Schwartz, vocalist with the bands Klazzj and Hot Pstromi, is organizer of the Klezmer for Change concert October 12, 2004 at the Knitting Factory.

At the top of the show, Elizabeth fills us in on what's happening and introduces some politically-tinged tracks by Klazzj and Hot Pstromi. Later, we play music by the other participants - some klezmer (Alicia Svigals, David Krakauer) - and some not so klezmer (like guitarist Gary Lucas' Gods and Monsters). Plus a few more political songs from varied sources as well as our usual mix of new and interesting stuff.

More info about Klazzj and Hot Pstromi can be found via her husband (and band founder/violinist - among other things) Yale Strom's website: http://www.yalestrom.com.

Klezmer for Change is one of many pro-Kerry benefit concerts coming up in the weeks before the election under the umbrella of Concerts for Change (we also recommend World Music for Change October 22 at CBGB's Gallery).
