No need. I mean it's not going to help if he wants to run for public office but otherwise no harm & only just a little foul

Has anyone watched the new romantic documentary, Blitzed!? It's quite good

It's a about London's Blitz Club which birthed the whole scene
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Krys O.:

Blitz was the name of Steve Strange's club that spawned New Romantic music.

Yes that whole scene was such a big deal at the time, but I wonder if it’s become forgotten by history?

I think in the long run, it had more of an impact on art and fashion than music

I’ve got a boner to pick with this caller!

Thought it was funny that Mike Love was promoting a solo album by playing a “sparsely attended” show at Amoeba Hollywood - and it was FREE.

↳ Song: "Christine" by "Siouxie and the Banshees"
Based on Christine Costner Sizemore who had dissociative identity disorder aka multiple personality disorder. I read about her in the 70s.

Her book, I'm Eve came out in 1977. Her psychiatrists wrote a book that became the film Three Faces of Eve with Joanne Woodward. One of her personalities was the Purple Lady, I recall.

↳ Song: "Ali Baba" by "Thieves"
Never heard this song. Never heard of the band. But this song has a nice chorus.

One of the crazy things about MPD is that they'll often have certain personalities for specific tasks. Like I read about one sufferer who had an entire personality that only came out when she vacuumed.

It's an earworm, for sure!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:49pm

↳ wendystonehenge @12:47
Right! The mind compartmentalized them into performing tasks. The book and TV movie came out in the 70s, as well. I read that one too. Gruesome.

↳ Song: "No Fun" by "The Stooges"
I've said this on a few WFMU chats when this song played and I'll say it again - a great example of handclaps being used in the background along with those fuzzed out guitars. I like natural handclaps in rock n roll music although they are overused.

I'll have to give that one a spin. I checked out that Merv Griffin haunted house song btw. SO GOOD! Too bad it's $80 on discogs. That one is gonna be a long hunt

Mr. Oxford:

Thanks for a great show, Wendy!
Avatar 12:56pm

As someone who has recorded handclaps for several songs, it's surprisingly hard to get the sound just right
Avatar 12:57pm
Mr. Oxford:

↳ wendystonehenge @12:56
I can understand. I had tried to do that when I tinkered with recording music back in the day.
Avatar 12:59pm
Mr Fab:

↳ wendystonehenge @12:56
True! You want a nice sharp slap sound. It can end up a dull thud.
Avatar 1:00pm
