I went to the '64 World's Fair in Flushing, Queens, NYC several times. I lived nearby in NJ. What a trip, then. I realized many many years later a band I saw in a pavilion was Jimmy Cliff!

..and believe it or not, I saw a civil rights protest outside a pavilion of a Southern state. Arkansas, I think it was. A cousin I was with said the protesters were assholes. I knew they weren't.

Loved the Dinosaurs at the 64 Fair. Ill never forget them..then saw then again when they toured all the shopping centers in Jersey. Thanks, im a regular on a couple of great shows here, especially Double Dip!

The only REAL memory I have of Flushing Meadows is on a NYC trip in 2008. Even though 95% of the fair is gone, I was in urban utopia and took many pictures.....until the batteries in my camera gave out.

I found those World's Fair pictures disks with "Gayway Twist," etc when visiting Seattle in late '90s. They found em in a warehouse and were in mint condition. And I paid a mint for 'em! But totally worth it.

My memories, inflluenced by silent 16 mm movies and so forth, had erased the sounds on the plazas, but indeed it was every bit as loud as Shep said, such that it was had to keep a crowd together by verbal instructions.

I own the 78 flexi-disc, "The Triumph of Man", and played it for guests one July 4 in the 1990s. They all though it was corny except for me and my friend Peter, who thought it impressive.

I just recalled: one of the Big Corp exhibits (maybe Bell) had a booth you could go in and when you talked it made your voice sound different with different tones. People outside the booth would laugh at you. I did it. So Futuristic. (Like some WFMU DJs do now! The promise of the future.)
