It's a very interesting portrayal for a woman in 1950: she's not shamed for it, it just happens, and the show movies on.

	👻 9:58pm Austin Rich: ↳ Mr Fab @9:56 I subscribed to a lot of OTR podcasts, and they were all SO DULL! And there were clearly spots where old ads would run, and it seemed like a lost potential. I remember, as a kid, some DJs used to try to make the Old Radio shows sound a feel like it used to, with fun set-ups and transitions. Seemed like a no-brainer to me.

But at that time, I didn't piece together that they were broadcasting, and I was more into rock music and comics, so I was just listening to a lot of radio. A few years later I got the bug to be a DJ, but I always wanted to be a rock DJ, not a HAMM.

	👻 10:22pm Austin Rich: 19 Hours A Day was quite a bit, actually, by 1944 standards. That was probably not all stations, but only some of the bigger ones. Some local stations suffered from being remote, and only having a handful of staff members. So having a full schedule, every day, was certainly a luxury of city life. At least, that was the case in 1944.

	👻 10:23pm Austin Rich: I love that weird mystical sound that Korla Pandit does for these kinds of scenes.

	👻 10:27pm Austin Rich: I believe Chandu was, for the most part, a "live" show, that was recorded to transcription disc, and then distributed to other stations for airplay. Mutual-Don Lee was a mid-sized network, so a fair number of stations played Chandu. It was a bit of a phenomena in the 30's, with a handful of movies, and a radio-series that pre-dates these stories. But I prefer the Korla Pandit music of this late 40's series, and I believe the entire run of this series exists, unlike the 30's series.

	👻 10:29pm Austin Rich: Being "live to transcription," I believe - as far as I understand it from what I've read - that Korla Pandit was there for all the recording sessions, to do the organ and SFX live. While must have been a great gig for him in 1948! Regular work, playing music on the radio! For a popular adventure serial! Good start to his career!

A few years later I got the bug to be a DJ, but I always wanted to be a rock DJ, not a HAMM.

Some local stations suffered from being remote, and only having a handful of staff members. So having a full schedule, every day, was certainly a luxury of city life. At least, that was the case in 1944.

Mutual-Don Lee was a mid-sized network, so a fair number of stations played Chandu. It was a bit of a phenomena in the 30's, with a handful of movies, and a radio-series that pre-dates these stories. But I prefer the Korla Pandit music of this late 40's series, and I believe the entire run of this series exists, unlike the 30's series.
