Here's a discography. Among all those cartoon records there are many, many groovy records. You could tell that they often dealt with regional pluggers, as there are clusters of 45s from Texas, Michigan etc

I'd love to see musical instrument industry figures for 1964. I imagine guitars were flying off the shelves at an insane rate. Sears had it's own brand, Silvertone (we had a local factory in Neptune, NJ)

Yeah, the history of that stuff is a slice of social history that has always fascinated me. How amplifiers get invented and marketed somehow, and how technology and tastes influence each other, and evolve.

Prized more for their original specs than they're ease of use; original single coils are very noisy, and they can also deliver a sound profile that's so bright it hurts like a pencil in the ear....just removed some from a 36 year old Japanese Fender Squire
