Dom Salvador was there too but just as a spectator. Adrian & Ali brought him out and he got a standing ovation.

I saw Dom play at The River Cafe on many occasions over the years at The River Café. He’s been the pianist there for decades.

Rose Batiste, Clarence Avant, Toussaint McCall, Robbie Robertson, Rodriguez, Bernie Griffen. That's who I have lined up to tribute tonight.

↳ Song: "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by "The Band"
A Robbie obit called the song controversial. While the rethinking, reframing and renaming of recent years might certainly have brought up obvious questions about its attitude, if there was an active controversy or hot spotlight, I missed it.

Robertson apparently claimed other members were so messed up by drugs and alcohol that he had to take more direct control. Never saw them, but if they were in such bad shape, I wonder what live shows of that period were like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
doctorjazz:

From the Big Pink Bobby Dylan period (I read Robertson say they never played or even had acoustic instruments before the Big Pink time with Dylan; then the house kept filling up with them.

Manuel was supposed to be a wreck, but he/they kept it tight in concert (at least when I saw them)

Pretty fascinating story, I really enjoyed the biography from a few years back, maybe by Barney Hoskyns? I think it was actually called Across The Great Divide even? Well worth reading.
