The one you attended was done after the land was purchased by Cablevision of Orange County CEO Alan Gerry for his daughter who had majored in event management in college. The site became Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Those shows were just money grabs by Cablevison at the time. Bethel Woods refuses to acknowledge the grassroots events as ever happening but sorry, they ARE part of the history of the site. I was at the 1994 show as I was booking bands at the time & one of my acts 61 North played to about 50k people Saturday Night Sid Bernstein called me the Friday morning of the shows to acquire the sound system for the competing stage that was erected next to ours Sunday morning. Not cool. Very little peace & love from the folks who showed up to do that waving contracts around. At left is a photo I took of a benefit show we did for the 94 show at Scalawags in Monticello,NY which Richie Havens was kind enough to do for us. The one you attended was done after the land was purchased by Cablevision of Orange County CEO Alan Gerry for his daughter who had majored in event management in college. The site became Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Those shows were just money grabs by Cablevison at the time. Bethel Woods refuses to acknowledge the grassroots events as ever happening but sorry, they ARE part of the history of the site. I was at the 1994 show as I was booking bands at the time & one of my acts 61 North played to about 50k people Saturday Night Sid Bernstein called me the Friday morning of the shows to acquire the sound system for the competing stage that was erected next to ours Sunday morning. Not cool. Very little peace & love from the folks who showed up to do that waving contracts around. At left is a photo I took of a benefit show we did for the 94 show at Scalawags in Monticello,NY which Richie Havens was kind enough to do for us.
