Phone still acting weird though. I'm not missing the telemarketers, and I can always call back a known number (I could get used to that)

I suppose I can be excited for this

@fred glad things are proceeding. You're amazing to look at the phone issues as getting rid of telemarketers. You're an inspiration for looking on the bright side.

"There used to be really complex songs that you heard on the radio all the time. It challenged the listener, in a good way, and I think people at that time were willing to accept that challenge. As long as you keep the listener interested, it's a good thing, but in today's world, where people's attention spans are really short, it's a different set of rules. It's a challenge for modern bands who aspire to create challenging compositions and want to be heard".
"Part of the challenge today is to balance writing creative music for a world that has a shorter attention span than ever before. Otherwise, you won't be heard."
On the other hand, he tells us that he has a contradiction in being a "rock star", and the role he really wanted as a musician for his life.
"In the '70s, in Yes we toured like crazy and we didn't always have big profit margins. Then, with Asia, I was part of a huge machine that sold over four million copies.
"I couldn't believe it all seemed so simple. So I've seen both sides and now I'm more driven by what the music means to me than anything else. I've always said I'd rather be someone behind the scenes, Chet Atkins-style. I'd be quite happy with that. But certainly if the spotlight keeps falling on me, I'll have to rise to the challenge.
