i've encountered that plenty... 🤷 what to do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Krys O.:

I wear a mask whenever I set foot out of my apartment. I have an autoimmune disease, asthma, and a heart condition. There's also a risk of sudden stroke in my family. I'm fully vaxxed too. I'm the lone masker in the office while people cough and sniffle. Luckily, there is a lot of space at my job, so I can also keep my distance. I've had passersby on the street and such give me dirty looks or they shout insults at me for wearing a mask. One of the best comebacks I heard was I wear a mask to remind me to mind my own business.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm

I understand that. It's very popular to have disdain for the vulnerable. So many people admire badasses or what they believe badasses to be.
  12:11pm
wenzo:

Jan I was randomly curious if there is a town called Turkenburg… so far all I’ve found out is that there is a Turkenburg plant nursery in Ohio and that the average Turkenburg in the US outlives the general population by ten years on average
  12:12pm

So this cold is unlikely to be lethal according to my research

Now as far as we know (and my uncle's research couldn't be more thourough, going back to the 14th century) there hasn't been a town called Turkenburg. Turk could have meant 'torch' in those days and 'burg' neighborhood, fortified house or castle.
  12:15pm
wenzo:

Hey… music for dreams… will this cure my insomnia?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm

↳ wenzo @12:11

Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Jan Turkenburg:

It's not surprising there is a plant nursery called Turkenburg. One of the branches of the turkenburg-tree was a wellknown company in seeds and plants
  12:17pm
wenzo:

So your ancestors could have been a clan of torch manufacturers… or serial arsonists…?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:17pm

All Turkenburg's roots that have been researched end up in one small Dutch city: Alphen a/d Rijn.

"It's very popular to have disdain for the vulnerable." ... this is something i never really thought about much until i began appearing as a vulnerable. i have trouble walking, seeing and i look (and feel) like i'm drunk all of the time. Irony being that i quit drinking completely before my peskier symptoms manifested themselves. but that vulnerabilities and disdain are very real and no joke. i've heard abut such a thing but i couldn't believe that people were so cruel, when i began realizing it that it was almost undoubtedly the case.
