I didn't see the Altman Popeye until years after it came out. A few reviewers liked the film when it came out and it made money. The award folks and much of the industry deemed it a bomb. Too bad. Worth noting that Leonard Maltin panned the Nilsson contributions to the soundtrack as "some alleged songs". Think most now would disagree with that.

I feel lucky to be a producer that is not artistically or musically inclined. I come to this as a fan, so my personal interest as a producer are never in conflict with my own pursuits. Being in the service of weirdo artists IS my art. Curatorially my focus: experimental music, free jazz, and improvisational dance.

Ohhhhh realising I should clarify ...cause the word "producer" has multiple meanings, especially for this group. I am not a music producer in the studio. I am a cultural producer making live events happen. I am...securing venues, setting up chairs, finding harps, booking hotels, and most importantly raising money through grant writing. I work for non-profits and museums putting on concerts and dance performances.
