I was lucky enough to score a lot of this stuff in a roundabout way back in the 1980s, on those KENT/ACe/Charly comps that people like Ady Croasdell and Harboro Horace etc put together...when in the mood, there's no greater source of pure joy. Pounding super-positive soul

It really is uplifting. One need only check out videos of the ecstatic dancing at places like the Wigan Casino to get a feeling for its effect on the dancers.

Crazy vibrant sub-culture that (I'd like to think) broke down race-barriers in working-class pockets outside of the big smoke. Sort of like the mods before it, and two-tone after it. Alternate universes.

It's also that a lot of these records, that I got for 10-20 bucks a long time ago have now become prohibitively expensive. Many of the New Orleans 45s I bought in the 90s are insanely expensive now.

Yeah, it's kind of a low-key disease, and even I don't have it as bad as some people. A good buddy of mine who is a record dealer told me about a guy he sold to who told his wife he made half of what he actually did, and spent the rest on records. That's CRAZY
