there used to be a place in gainesville that would smother a knish a fried egg w/ lots of cheddar and salsa (not your bag, but it was great brunch fare back in the day).

...when the Covid Times came down - my promise to myself was when it was 'Normal' again - I would salute this going to my fave local Breakfast Diner.
It didn't survive.
Michael 98145:
Handy Haversack:
I started cocktailing during the pandemic.
But yeah, the Manhattan premium is real. But a real Manhattan diner is such a comfort sometimes. We had a couple of beers at one across the street from Symphony Space before a Richard Thompson show last year, on a raw and rainy December night, and it was just a perfect slice of NYC life to dip into and pay way too much for.

When CDs came in - it had become top-heavy on the Corporate end - & the Lawyers & BeanCounters killed their own Market with Pricing.
Now - I suppose in a way we're completely on the other side of the mirror. $100 for an Artisan Vinyl ...$15K for a pre1965 Fender Stratocaster...

- just this month I've come to the knife edge with my Landlord with the amount of Stuff I have.
I have *just now* got rid of enuff & put the remaining in order to I think have backed away from that...
To reduce it to what I *really* value - &/or - may *actually* use ...& for it to be in such a state I may actually use it - is, it turns out, a very good thing...

Have a happy New Year. Wishing peace, safety, and joy to all of you fellow travelers. The journey would sure be a grim one without you.
