I just watched "Two Lovers" directed by James Gray on the Criterion Channel--really good. I think James Gray is a great director. His movies are stories about people; just good stories about people, which I love. He also directed "The Immigrant"

you know what, I didn't see it like that because I felt like the woman he ended up. with really appreciated and liked him. And they seemed to have good physical chemistry. Maybe he ended up in the best place for who he was and he will be able to continue making his art? (Also, I'm not so sure things would have worked out with the Gwyneth character...)

hmm! I kinda liked how it was all about the myth of bowie, someone we'll never really know, and how he's kind of unknowable as a person because of all the myth. i also like the choppiness of the editing, if that's what you wanna call it, in that it was super collage like and fluid and directionless.

I can get with that - but the myth came from the man himself, not the bio pic. I might be getting too old for quick visual editing LOL. I did like how Bowie's voice was used throughout - but a lot of his antidotes felt out of sequence. I am a historian that works be a lot of artist estates. It is essential to respect and mine an artist's voice - but sequence is everything. We are not the same person our entire lives in my opinion. So seeing growth in a person reflects the human condition. I was hoping for a little more of that.
