"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

It's sort of interesting to consider. If in Jazz you have a Standard you Interpret - or even just state what they call the 'Head' - like the main melody, as just a launch space for Improvisation
- than what are the parallels in other Musics or even Arts. Is Jazz like AI or Memes except being especially Human ? Was it PostModern from the start. What does it mean that this has roots in African 'Signifying'. What was the question. Are answers better than questions. Am I foaming @ the mouth & falling over backwards...

Cause I often think one thing qualifies a good 'Cover' is showing light on a Composition from a different angle. Whereas a faithful Cover might impress merely in technical reproduction. But what does it say otherwise. & then to consider that the RawkaRollaz in strictly Historical terms are a branch off the Jazz Tree ...if a long thick branch reaching far & heavily from the trunk...

i think an analogy to the idea of "covers" in art would be when artist started using found material to produce work, any thing from readymades to warhol soup cans

Its close to Snyder's as in "Zack Snyder's" the IJ sounds is more elongated. The bonus point pronunciation by JA was entertaining but far off the mark. But funny.

It makes sense because the ‘structure’ of jazz is that a song is only a starting off point for the musicians who after playing the melody a few times will take turns improvising on their instrument then eventually return to the original melody.
