OED on "skronk":

interjection

1897–
U.S. Representing any of various loud, harsh sounds. Somewhat rare.
1897

He's all hoarse, and skronk, skronk, like a frawg.

New York Observer 29 April 628/1

1985

My car's brakes are going ‘skronk’. Loudly.

Aiken (South Carolina) Standard 10 October 5a/1

U.S. English

noun

1981–
The use of dissonance or inharmonious noise, esp. loud distorted guitar, in certain forms of popular and experimental music.
1981

Christgau calls it ‘skronk’. I have always opted for the more obvious ‘horrible noise’.

Village Voice (New York) 30 September 57/1

1995

The improvised elements challenge the hegemony of the strings, the skronk of Cochrane's guitar at times reducing them to helpless glissandi and decaying phrases.

A. Jones, Plunderphonics, 'Pataphysics & Pop Mech. 119
1998

In their own words, they are purveyors of ‘free jazz skronk’ which, in layman's terms, can be read as either ‘music at its purest and most primeval’ or ‘arty bollocks played by buffoons’.

Melody Maker 28 February 44/4
2007

Their fifth album is shrill, theatrical, and unhinged, sometimes more reminiscent of the deranged skronk of Pussy Galore.

  8:47pm
Listener Gregory:

I once saw Arto Lindsay show up late onstage for a set w John Zorn. He plugged in his guitar and gave it a harsh strum. Ouch! It was clearly far out of tune. He looked at Zorn and nodded, “Ready to go!” That was my first real experience with skronk guitar. Excellent show.

interesting does she remind you of boltanski or a subject that boltanski would have picked
  9:10pm
Dean:

Her openness to multiple media, installation, and treatment of memory reminded me, I think. I first learned about Boltanski in the late '80s or thereabouts. I haven't spent much time since then thinking about him, but that experience alone struck me. A book, perhaps an exhibition catalog, that I checked out from UCLA's library when I was there, was fascinating. And then I remember learning that he had died.

i think mayer's trancendentalist viewpoint and just the way she related to life would have been interesting to boltanski asx subject matter how memory relates to transcendentalism or the fleeting
yes the expanded field for poetry, i don't really have a grasp on "memory" but i see the corelation to photography

Is Muqata’a sampling Tom Waits???

I mean more out of control than usual.
And is it Live or is it just Pop? I’m confused.

I dropped "live" a couple of years ago because the blog is essential dead so there was no need to distinguish the broadcast from the blog

Sold out vinyl, a regular occurrence. Pisses me off, because I've been "pro vinyl" for five or six decades. But I eventually came around to the convenience--a word I despise--of digital, i.e., CDs. I imagine Bandcamp bands could make more by offering CD as well. But as folks migrate to "pure" digital stream, I lose out. And so it goes.

Anybody know Keith Jarrett's recording of Hartmann/Gurdjieff? I've always been wary of it...

I think I avoided that album as a matter of principle. But I have so many Jarrett records that I can’t remember which ones they are. His recording of the Shostakovich preludes and fugues was brilliant (to my uninformed mind), btw. I say this because if I wait for someone to ask me, it will never be said.

I was a big Keith Jarrett fan in the 1980s and I've always wondered how I would respond to the music now
