Fred Lane: This albumen had me jumping for Joy after it arrived and the needle hit the record and then sounds came out of my speakers … a special order at my doorstep (circa 1985 ? Original label vinyl - pre shimmy)
Yet I was certainly shimmy-ing across the room.

Re dr feel good & the hyper active brilliance that is Wilko Johnson!: Being an American new englander kid of the 70s - I wasn’t that aware of the British pub rock scene until Stiff records started to get a push around USA. Perhaps I first lay’d eyes on Wilko via late night tv shows like midnight special or Don Kirschner (sp?) rock concerts show, etc. I will never forget actually eye-balling Wilko’s antics for the first time. & i had thought Elvis Costello & David Byrne were the manic kings… the lovingly lifted.

- tuned in near the beginning (i think) of "face". bouncing between here and Marty.
that piece is far more heart-wrenching than funny, despite his delivery. -even though i was no longer a pariah by the 3rd grade, i always remembered and hated the cruelty i witnessed - especially in circumstances when standing up against it would jeopardize my being almost acceptable with the popular kids...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am
Mike Lupica:

↳ coelacanth∅ @12:23
Totally. It captures the seldom-mentioned cruelty-of-children in a way that trades off from being deeply upsetting to laugh-out-loud funny. SJB was amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am
coelacanth∅:

...that to say - people suck. children suck because their parents suck and they grow up to be sucky adults and sucky parents...
and i'd bet old Jesse's "mental illness" was 100% the result of the cruelty he endured.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am

never went into the water there, and only been to coney island once, but i imagine it's the same water as sandy hook - which is a bit risky! (although there, at least in the 90s, the beaches themselves might've been more hazardous)
