Childhood moment: I was hanging with my 13 year old brother and his friends when I was 10. They and I were smoking. One of brother's buddies says to me "You smoke like a heathen." I remember right where we were, pushing through a hedge in the park in the late afternoon dark, when he said it. Struck me then and now as funny and odd.
Was also reminded of it when I got caught several years later trying to sneak into the gym to see a show by Doug's band, The Heathen Smokers.

A year ago Irene and Peter did a program honoring Wayne Shorter (who had just passed) and Orrin Keepnews (whose what would have been his 100th birthday was the same day that Shorter passed).
