The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

I saw them in a big beer barn in Sydney 1991? Touring Dirty, about 2000 people.
At the end no one would leave and Kim was last one on stage stomping on her bass, all at #11 and literally drove the drunken hoard away.
Truly magnificent

Just catching up on the comments. UM, did not know your uncle is the Jim Newman that produced the Sun Ra film (which I have looked for but have not yet watched) of the same title as this album.
en.wikipedia.org...

This recording Rich played appears to on the OST album of the same name, Space is the Place:
en.wikipedia.org...

But the cover in the playlist is from the Blue Thumb / Implse studio album of the same name but different material:

If I search enough, I could probably find another album with the same title. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thank god they've been reissuing a lot of it recently

surprisingly original pressings don't go for a huge amount of money, most are around the $50-$150 range + shipping, which is still an eye-popping amount but it's not enough to make you keel over from sticker shock (until you see how much it costs to ship it over from across the pond)
