& Zinc (...mineral) is pretty major I think - esp. good for throat situations...

it really is. I also believe highly in warm salt-water gargles if you have anything happening in your throat (and you have to make sure you swallow some), and saline nasal sprays (but need to use only once or twice a day)

actually in all honesty dairy probably won't give you enough vitamin d, you need about 600iu per day and drinking an 8 ounce glass of whole milk will get you around 100iu, not sure about ice cream but I'm sure you'd have to eat a lot to hit your daily recommended intake

I actually just looked up earlier if it is ok to eat garlic skin. pealing gets tedious. answer is yes btw. my current approach is to sort of crack it open with my fingers. I don’t even chop it up half the time. I am a crude minimalist in the kitchen.

A few months ago I was in San Francisco and I had a miserable cold. If I stayed inside I only felt worse, so every morning I made myself march down to Golden Gate Park, drink some coffee, get a slice of pizza on Haight Street then go back to bed. I felt like living Hell. I was at the top of The Panhandle and this park ranger was tossing some poor guy into the street. The guy had a kitchen table pile with all this junk he was trying to carry across Fell Street which is like a one-way drag strip. First a shoe fell off the table, then a back pack and finally a tennis racket that bounced on it's edge like a cartoon. I couldn't help myself, I just started laughing.

Horrible, I know. But sometimes another persons misery makes you reconsider your own relative discomfort.
