Dean:

"Analog" seems inapt for the qualification. In the analog/digital sense, I think it refers to encodings (of sound, language, the visual, etc.) that are similar in some significant way to the objects they encode. Hence, an LP is analog, because its fixation of the audio signal resembles the original sound. We can perceive where volume, frequency, and rhythm are encoded in ways that we cannot with digital recordings.

An analog bike isn't an actual, original bike, which is also what powered bikes are. The only difference is that there is the power augmentation. They are no less analog for being powered. "Analog" doesn't mean absent technology.

I also get weary of the notion that virtual or digital sources of information are not material. Of course they're material, and if you've ever had to maintain a supply of them for people who rely on access to them, as I have, then you know very well how material and demanding of space they can be.

it's suddenly overrun here with motorized bikes and motorized scooters. just a few hours ago i walked down a sidewalk and a woman on a motorized bike was approaching toward me. i wasn't planning to alter my path, and she must've known she was wrong to be riding on the sidewalk, so she hops the curb, into oncoming cars on a very narrow road, in a barely controlled wobble.

Why is the sand glittery at Coronado Beach?
The long sandy beaches here are special and literally sparkle, thanks to the mineral mica in its golden sand. It's just one of the reasons Coronado was ranked No. 15 on Tripadvisor's 2022 Travelers Best tally of best beaches in the United States, and has regularly landed on other top-beaches lists.

NYC drivers are mostly predictable. FL drivers, anything but.

i imagine having a dream about breaking a camera to be equivalent of dream about breaking teeth

the tripod came down camera first. the flash unit mounted on top exploded! the extreme macro lens on it no longer mounted smoothly but still worked. the camera seemed to be okay, miraculously, except the flash mount.

i don't think i've ever had a scary camera dream! (despite having scary camera events!)
OR a breaking teeth dream, fortunately.

...the woman stopped her car a few hundred yards up; came walking back with her sideview mirror in her hand, wires hanging out... i had already gotten up. i was dazed but maybe appeared fine to her. she said "you okay?you really ought to watch where you're walking!" and walked away.

At the end of my catch up listen (getting tougher-I like to listen to the Drummer Stream Thursday shows, and Sounds Under 64). The last set is up my alley! Also got to the 1st half of the Accordion Marathon CD-great stuff (I'm a bit fan of cool accordion music).
Thanks, Sam!
