"Hey is there a song for that event?" you ask. Why yes, of course -- the smash Eurovision hit of the same year (1974) E depois do Amor by Paulo de Carvalho (outu.be...) -- famously played on that day as a signal for the soldiers to leave the barracks and join the revolution (and hence, to quite possibly not see their loved ones again). thus far almost entirely unplayed on WFMU, except recently by the great DJ Pedro of Radio Futura

Ah, "hyperreality" from Jean Baudrillard, in "Simulacra and Simulation" (one of MacLuhan's most important reads).

Though that considers hyperreality as the "invented reality" of post-modern times - like Disneyland as the purposely exaggerated Americana of the past, that is a simulcrum, a copy whose original never existed. Etc...

I'd like to see what the original Hanging Gardens in Mesopotamia were like, if they were as magnificent as the writers said.

But on the other hand, you will find people "hanging out" in the gardens of Central Park, any time of day or night...

I don't consider myself postmodernist either, though there are good elements to be carried forward. Whatever comes next/now, some say "post-post-modern", some say "trans-modern", ideally includes the good parts of Modern and Postmodern, as well as pre-Modern, while examining their flaws and not continuing those. Others say that every such period is a form of "Modern" - the 20th century after WWI and the coming information society colored everything else after it.

I look at it as pre moving image and everything after moving images.

The image can create an idea of reality that appears realer than real but is not actuality

Exactly, Faux Snooze is an example of that simulacrum*, ultimately standing for nothing but an unhinged, unmoored aggressive energy in reaction to others, making up and ditching ideals in the memory hole as they go, whose originals never existed. Nineteen Ninety-Six, in that outlet's case - but a problem in many others corners of this information society.

And - remember previous discussions about pre/post microphone - belting out singing vs. "crooning", and music produced in studio without resemblance to live performances.
