definitely! it's very sad that a lot of public schools no longer have music and/or instruments. I fantasize about winning a lottery and using the dough to rebuild music instruction, especially in under financed public schools.

We had a philharmonic orchestra and small opera company in our city that funded frequent performances and visits for school kids so we had some familiarity with the instruments when we got to grade 6 and instrumental classes were an option. My kids had no such luck and had to guess at what instrument might be interesting. At least they had the opportunity.
