Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

So I have a personal connection to this show. I once played the male lead in a production of "Sound of Music." Yes, I was Captain Von Trapp. It was my summer day camp's production. We were god-awful. I think I was about 11 years old. Fortunately, it was an undemanding audience; our parents. My theatrical career went downhill from there.

There is also the (now) jazz standard called "Old Folks," played by many from Fats Waller to Charlie Parker to Keith Jarrett (!). Its lyrics are incredibly strange, because the title character is actually called "Old Folks." Eh?

@Bronwyn - Elvis had a particular dislike for Robert Goulet. Whenever Goulet appeared on television Elvis would allegedly shoot the set with a pistol (which he always carried.) I’ve heard that Elvis purchased many hotel TV sets over the years
