The sound isn't too bad tonight, but I did do a little EQ on the sound, to improve it a bit. The Rogue's Gallery episodes are very hit-or-miss, as they are all preserved via fan recordings, which were better and or worse, depending.

We don't have a recording of the episode from the week before, but this opening implies that Rogue was hospitalized last week, and apparently, was dating a woman named Liza.

Dick Powell was well known for singing, and had a little career as a crooner. This song foreshadows Dick Powell's turn as the singing detective in Richard Diamond, later.

I believe that is Gerald Mohr playing the other man in this episode. (He seems to appear in a lot of "Rogue's Gallery" episodes, but is best known to many as the voice of Philip Marlowe in the radio version of, "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe."

Aside from, "Bold Venture" and "The Voyage of The Scarlet Queen," which did start in the US, "Rocky Jordan," is one of the few other shows that take place outside of the US. There are a few others, but most old radio from this era is set in the US.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Webhamster Henry:

I knew "Star, Bright" from reading it when I was a kid. It's great fun, and I think could be adapted into something a little better. the oft-produced "Zero Hour" with similar sci-fi kids was turned into a not very good TV series "The Whispers" . Well, the kids were great, the plot and adults were not.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:14pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Webhamster Henry @10:12
It does sort of have a "Zero Hour" flavor to it. I like this one a lot, but the first time I heard it, I think I sided with the kids, and the last time I listened, I started feeling more for the dad. Getting older is weird.

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:16pm

Well, It was not very common anywhere I lived. But I wonder if that is because our summer months are short, and not that hot, by comparison?

It depends. Some places have them, others don't. We don't have one now, but we did at our last house, here in the same town. The last two cities I've lived in were similar: some houses had them, some didn't.
  👻 10:21pm
Heather:

↳ Austin Rich @10:19
I learned only a few years ago that we NEED basements here because of the frost line and hard winters. If your house isn't dug into the ground some, it'll crack off the ground. Explains all the weird little basically crawl space basements I've seen around here!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Heather @10:21
We have a crawl space in our current house for the same reason. But it is not big enough to store anything, or use as a basement. We have a lot of plumbing down there, and the plumbers are not happy to go down there, as possums have made nests everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm

They're actually good for the yard, and they control pests and keep other beasts away from our yard and garden. So they get the crawl space, and we benefit from their lifestyle.

I mean, if you want to fight the animals for a space you can't sit up in so you can roll around in the mud, then you can do it. Since I can't even get in there to use the space, it's not really part of our house.
