Berkeley has somehow become bagel central, beginning with the opening of Boichik Bagels, which now has operations blocks from my place. Very good bagel. Then Bageltopia opened a mile or so away. Very good bagel. And then there's Beauty Bagels in Oakland. Best bagel, by my lights.

Years ago I went with a friend to the post office in Sausalito, except it was no longer a post office. We went inside from the loading dock, and this person was giving a boy mannequin a haircut. This person was Micky McGowan, who had the most amazing collection of junk I had ever seen. We sat around in 'the living room' and he played us some of his favorite records. We went back to San Francisco and my mind was truly blown.

Years later RE Search did a feature on him and his collection in one of there books.

Now he's in Mill Valley, and all his stuff is in a house called The Unknown Museum.

I think you should pay him a visit.
