It happens with me, I may recommend something because it makes sense at the time, totally forget I did, then gets genuinely surprised when it comes up months/years later

My family didn't go on vacations. We had day trips to local lakes or beaches in CT and NY. When I was around 11/12 years old, my oldest sister and her husband took me on trips to Cape Cod before the school year started. Had lots of fun and experienced things that my parents weren't financially able to provide for a brief time.
