Someone complained he was slacking doing Covers - but Bowie did two Albums that year... Always thot 'PinUps' had great selections, arrangements & performances. Myself being born Nov.1963 ('Generation Jones') - always appreciated the Retrospective view of the 1960s. Yerknow... I was awlready outta step that way in the 1970s. Punk arriving soon...

In the broader view - The Spiders were just a bitchen RawkBand. & MickRonson was simply Musical & fabulous in every way. & I guess I'm a but Rawkist - & wish Boowie had stayed there longer & all. Boowie the habitual changeling I guess...
But Aynsley Dunbar is a bad thing ? Really ? ...I wouldn't have thot of it - but maybe Woodmansey woulda been better & you're right.
For one thing - who knew from ThePrettyThings in 1973 ?? I didn't get a hold of their Greatest Hits until years after that. A decade maybe !...

Hey, gonna drop a movie here while it's fresh in my mind: Ordinary People (USA, 1980, dir. Robert Redford). I think it won Best Picture, which is ironic since it is very good. Watched b/c of Domald Sutherland (great role as a sensitive but passive tax attorney), but the other principals (Mary Tyler Moore, Timothy Hutton, and Judd Hirsch) are excellent, Elizabeth McGovern wonderful (not much screen time but what there is is great), and Emmet Walsh as a swim coach lights up the screen in the way only he can.
It's melodramatic, I guess, but if it is I would watch more movies like it. Afraid this means I'll have to revisit On Golden Pond.

You know a weird thing about it? There's no popular music in it. Even when the kids talk about music it's classical. Though: did the ubiquity of Pachelbel's Canon coincide with that movie's release?

Ordinary People is now on my watch list. I'd also recommend "Klute" which I thought was great. And I have to rewatch MASH too because Sutherland steals the movie IMO (along with Bobby Troup). And Sutherland was also good in the Invasion Of The Body Snatchers 70's remake
