Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

There were very large modular speaker cabinets. Almost like a... wall of them.

When they fired up the racks of Crown amps powering them, in an otherwise basically empty stadium (no audience noises yet), the low-level, wouldn't notice it with a crowd present, hum from all those speakers powered by all those amps had a definite power and presence.

Enough too much speaker to go way louder then the show would ever go gave that sound system a beautiful effortless low-distortion sound. Headroom, baby.

Looking up the history... turns what I heard and helped load was a configuration after the official "Wall of Sound". It definitely wasn't as tall, didn't have those huge line arrays. It was more a high wide semicircle of identical-looking two or three driver cabinets stacked behind the band. It was pretty big and tall, but not as tall as the renderings I see of the Wall of Sound of legend.
