I didn't know conductor Andrew Davis died. He directed Ralph Vaughan Williams' music well. There is an easily found video of him conducting R.V.W.'s "Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis" at Gloucester Cathedral --where the piece was originally debuted. The video is transcendent.

Yeah, that was a massive influence on me. The local college radio station had it on heavy rotation at the time, and nothing else like it had found its way into my world. I've not really gone back to it, but damn, her work has aged REALLY well.
