Hi everyone. Terry Riley might not leave much of a legacy as a lyricist, but hey, it's the 60th anniversary year of In C, so bring it on!

hello david, and all.... when i was an embedded white person in the native american community, before there was an event they would smudge the space/room with sage to cast out evil spirits...terry riley is like the sonic equivalent of this ...and it is more than the apt time for it

i was a set designer for a couple of native american theater groups connected to the american indian community house which was located on lafayette street by the public.. i did odd jobs carpentry there and ended up going to events to special events with them as a guest. one time, at one of these events, a chief from out of town thought i was indian and got angry because i was acting so reserved. he found out who i was and burst out laughing

unfortunately some of their theater work was pretty bad and more in the realm of therapy. it became apparent what i thought of what they were doing (i was covering my face with my hands in exasperation) and i was excommunicated from the community

AICH during the Rosemary Richmond years was always a mixed bag. A focal point for artists in the community, but she was not great at communicating with non-natives.
