The SPIN review of New Day Rising:

"Lest you doubted, New Day Rising removes the chaff and ups the power: Grant Hart's tunes are his most bouncily loving. Mould's 'I Apologize' punches precise holes, and the title track exults in Hüsker Dü's trademark notes-within-the-sheets guitar, slobbering beats, and hoarse bellows. Which of these two albums you prefer (and Zen Arcade, to be heard in its entirety, requires the 'Eight Miles High" single, still available on SST), will depend on your needs: messy pain and recuperation, or the saner, happier aftermath?"

Most of Huskers releases were on SST, so I imagine Gregg Ginn still has the masters. You could do a remix and remaster, but I'm not sure how much it would change. Total Access studios has a 48 track board now, but not sure back in the 80's what they had. Trying to remaster a 16 track recording probably won't change that much
