Adolph Pavlas & His Bohemians  Vzpominky Z Mladi (Memories of Youth)   Favoriting Texas Czech: Bohemian-Moravian Bands  Arhoolie  This one's here to show the deep influence of POLKA and Czech immigrants around Texas on early jazz -- the tuba bass line influencing the left hand of Stride or Ragtime pianists.  0:38:51 (Pop-up)

Richard Marx  Should've Known Better   Favoriting A/T  Capitol  It's sorta funny I consider this painfully mainstream, but I wasn't finding him played on WFMU basically ever in the archives, and could not find a lot of AOR or easy listening in the FMU library today.  1:00:51 (Pop-up)
Bobby Brown  Roni   Favoriting Don’t be Cruel  UMG    1:04:49 (Pop-up)

Kenny G & Kashif  Love on the Rise   Favoriting Gravity  Arista  Closing out the smooth set with the synthesis of the dialectical struggle between the Kenny G's - the battle between Fluxus and smooth jazz -- resulting in Kashif, whose transcendent disco stylings resolve this Moment of tension.  1:31:27 (Pop-up)

Jobyphonic  Miss Wanna Die   Favoriting N/A  N/A  Kind of touching song about contemplation of suicide. Not a real human voice, made with Vocaloid software.  1:40:48 (Pop-up)
Fred Hammond  Jesus Be A Fence   Favoriting Purpose By Design  Zomba  Love how this style of gospel music gives such incredible space for varied vocal performers -- you expect the choir, multiple soloists, the pastor MC'ing the thing, and HELLA slap bass and rippin instrumental vamps. Interesting to watch the musicians follow the pastor on the fly using the "Nashville Number System".  1:43:35 (Pop-up)
Ricky Dillard & New G  There Is No Way   Favoriting Unplugged…The Way Church Used To Be  Crystal Rose    1:50:52 (Pop-up)
Kurt Carr  In the Sanctuary   Favoriting Awesome Wonder  Gospo Centric  The pauses between the truck-driver modulations up a half step at the end of the song so much more effective than you usually hear.

Nat, I've told this before, but you might find this funny (it's somehow JAZZ related too): I once had a long argument with a coworker about Braxton. Turned out Anthony and Toni are different persons, and neither of us knew about the other one. It took my coworker's looking up something which showed an album cover for us to realize the confusion
