As an anthropologist and photographer, Author Mike McCabe takes an engrossing point of view covering the culture of tattooing in New York City. Trained as a tattoo artist as well, his book deals with the underground art scene from the inside, and from scientific inquiry. A wonderful writer, McCabe's books always have the reader think about preserving history, and take a fresh look at this particular folk art in a time when NY had regulations against tattooing and had it's seedy history intact.
