I saw a great one that I cannot recall the title to, about a ganster who is finally ready to retire, who has achieved acceptance as a mainstream businessman and then a rival Irish gang comes in and disrupts his plans. He has a mate played by Helen Mirren... I think it was from the late 60s...

Sonny Sharrock! I first heard him live at CBGBs when his trio was the opening act for Deadline with Philip Wilson. I went to the show because Robert Quine was supposedly playing in Deadline, but he did not show. Sonny Sharrock was more than compensation.

My father took my brother and I to see Get Carter when it first came out in 1971. (I was a teenager in highschool.) He was under the impression that it was a great traditional gangster film, which of course it is. But he was not expecting the Britt Eckland mastrubation scene. Very embarrassing to sit through with your father!
