It doesn't help that so much of the experience is about affluence. I mean, fuck the rich. All I need is a coffee shop, a couple hours of quiet, and (these days) Melville. I do not need to venture forth to "foreign" countries. (None are that foreign.) I don't need to meet new people. (There are folks around the block from me who are new.) My incentives to travel are utterly pedestrian: I hope to encounter new record stores and interesting public libraries.

Also fun, but it may no longer exist. There’s a story, but not worth telling here. My recommendation is to go to the flea market. There’s a huge one. I’m sure you can look it up. I believe it was on the northern edge of town.

I had the worst airport experience ever there (and i've slept at Atlanta-Hartfield on the floor three times). my partner's visa for the US expired while in europe) and we thought it was no big deal as she was renewing it in Mexico, but we had a layover in Atlanta (i know, irony). I've had layovers in other countries w/o visas w/ no problem. The US immigration at De Gaulle, wouldn't let her board. so, i had to go to Mexico City, find the last bus to Pachuca (when my spanish sucked), call her parents, and get picked up after midnight once my bus got there (she slept at the airport for 5 days, until we got the airfare to get her to Mexico)

Also fun, but it may no longer exist. There’s a story, but not worth telling here. My recommendation is to go to the flea market. There’s a huge one. I’m sure you can look it up. I believe it was on the northern edge of town.

I had the worst airport experience ever there (and i've slept at Atlanta-Hartfield on the floor three times). my partner's visa for the US expired while in europe) and we thought it was no big deal as she was renewing it in Mexico, but we had a layover in Atlanta (i know, irony). I've had layovers in other countries w/o visas w/ no problem. The US immigration at De Gaulle, wouldn't let her board. so, i had to go to Mexico City, find the last bus to Pachuca (when my spanish sucked), call her parents, and get picked up after midnight once my bus got there (she slept at the airport for 5 days, until we got the airfare to get her to Mexico)
