Hi Miss Mei. Looking forward to hearing this Canadian Music Library Dive. You had written that you are focusing on the releases with synth featured.

For all we know, some of this music may very well have been featured in documentaries about space!

Definitely some planetarium narration vibes.

it doesn't surprise me that people named harry and bruce composed these songs

This playlist is the most packed one in the 2 year history of my show, with 101 different songs (I don't think any of these tunes are more than 4 minutes at most)

This episode is dense, like a bran muffin.

why aren't you turning into a bran muffin

is there a type of instrument that's more expensive than retro synths? I'll never afford anything like that lol
Avatar 12:24pm

All of the synths I want are retro ones

If not a Planetarium, then definitely the music they use in that "Surround Sound" room at Best Buy.

Well, not everyone could afford Vangelis, like Carl Sagan did.

If I sat down and listed my dream synthesizers I doubt any of them would be less than 500 dollars.
  12:29pm
shae:

aren't most of them pushing 10k
Avatar 12:31pm
Miss Mei:

↳ shae @12:29
Probably, and also many of them are probably too big to fit in my house, and are also likely too confusing for me to operate.

Miss Mei:

Library/Production music is actually what got me started with music archiving.
  12:40pm
shae:

i am curious how you came to discover this kind of music
Avatar 12:43pm
Miss Mei:

↳ shae @12:40
A guy from Iran posted a 4 minute compilation of unknown synthesizer instrumentals he recorded off of radio / tv, and posted them onto Youtube. I found them as I had become interested in 80s synth instrumentals and was looking up random ones on YT and found his video, we corresponded and tried to identify them. eventually, all but one was identified, and one of them was from the German production music company Selected Sound Library. I ended up finding a copy of the LP it was taken from on some sketchy German auction site, bought it and digitised it, and I ended up being the first person to circulate a vinyl rip of the record!

At the time there weren't many teenage audio archivists, I was one of few. They're all over the place now, which makes me happy that people are continuing to preserve media that is neglected and forgotten.
