I think Krys - while streaming and handing the back end - won't be free for active participation. So she pre-published the playlist. (Say THAT three times fast.)

I will yell and scream and get angry and then read a million pundits until I should have been in bed hours ago. So... I'll wait until I'm calmer.

I have to admit, this must have been pretty weird for people in 1968. Of course, we have WFMU now, so we get healthy doses of weird radio all the time. But this was probably a big deal for weirdos in the late 60's.

Certainly weird for Blue Collar Pittsburgh. I'll have to ask my old pal WT Koltek who
had some strange shows on WYEP in the 1970s

I often try to imagine what it was like to be a casual listener, then. I feel like that angle can often be overlooked. I'm sure the average Jill in 1968 must have had to do a double take when this comes on.

A reminder of radio and show business, from the Brother Love / Ken Reeth Wikipedia page:
He left Pittsburgh in 1973 for the west coast and bought KKAR, a country station in Pomona, where his on-air name was Romeo Jones.

Oh, wow! Wild.

My mom's only paying job in radio was at a country station. She didn't enjoy it much, but she toughed it out for a while.

Mr Fab:

Hey, mark! Once again, I love these obscure radio deep dives. Definitely an interesting format choice, as there really weren’t many hippies in America. Despite the popular images of “the 60s.“ I mean, how many do you see now? Or punks, or goths? they’re out there, but it’s not like they took over the entire society.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Mr Fab @8:25
I used to see a lot more hippies in Eugene in the 90's, as that town seemed to be really hippy friendly, in general. But anymore, I think the things that were unique to hippy culture are now pretty common across all pop culture. Just a theory, though. Who can say? Maybe the hippies all ascended to a higher plane and we don't see them anymore?

Wow. Pomona ... obscurity within a major radio market
Avatar 8:32pm
MarkTime:

↳ Mr Fab @8:25
If you believed my dad and the other Nixon fans in 1968, them hippies were overrunning society. There were a few at my church, most seemingly came to Chicago for the Democratic convention but didn't have the bus fare home and eventually blended into the Lincoln Park neighborhood
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm
Austin Rich:

Saturday Night with Brother Love! That must have been fun.

At a station I was on in Portland, we had Cosmic Jim on Saturday Nights. "Hello, trippers!" he would say, and then launch into his hippy-speak, and play all sorts of crazy records. Turntable mistakes were part of the show! I miss Cosmic Jim. I wonder what happened to him?

I recall buying an Electric Prunes album, and when I was at another place afterwards, a gentleman saw that, and said, "Woah! I remember those guys. Wild. You're in for a good time." Then walked off. I almost like how much he enjoyed them more than how much I actually enjoy them.

Yeah, this show so far rules. I got REALLY obsessed with Grace Slick and Donovan as a younger man. I can only imagine how it must have been to hear this in 1968.
